Pagerank and SEO - understanding the web visibility:
AuthorRank or PageRank... Confusing?
PageRank is a link analysis algorithm, named after and used by the Google web search engine, that assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of "measuring" its relative importance within the set. The algorithm may be applied to any collection of entities with reciprocal quotations and references.
In simpler terms:
PageRank is what Google uses to determine the importance of a web page. It is one of many factors used to determine which pages appear in search results.
My personal Google+ pagerank seems to be 5.
Get yours by pasting your G+ ID URL here:
In this format: https://plus.google.com/107742059751171695340
From business pages URL's, remove the b/u/ etc.
has a pagerank of 4 and has 3.
Which is really strange as the latter is more active and gets much more interaction, has more +1's and followers.
The first because of Finnish language and less Pages?
The second because of new users interacting - users whose pagerank is low?
I think it all boils down to:
Not the quantity but the quality of Google+ interactions.
The best way to increase your PageRank is to have quality content that other people want to link. People with high PR, especially. They give you the Google+ Juice...
I try to do exactly that but I still don't understand the low PR for the Helper page... Hmm.
A website's relevant value as determined by the Google search engine. The more "juice" a site has, the more likely it will turn up in search results. This is especially true when the search terms aren't the title of that site.
Google's particular method, known as PageRank, determines this importance according to who links what. If a high-ranking site links to a low-ranking one, that site will be given lots of juice. If a low-ranking site links to something, it doesn't have as much relevance. The text of the link also is taken into account.
Google Juice is very important in Search Engine Optimization. It's also the cause of cursed things like comment spam, link exchanges, and link blogs. This is collectively called spamdexing.

Luckily I have created my own stock photos and use a lot of screenshots, so hopefully this will be implemented in the future! :-)
Useful Chrome Extensions:
Domain Page Rank : https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/pagerank-stats/mbhcjkbogigdohobnnhgojgfjjfeafjo
Nice little extension for viewing the page rank of the Domain
Page Page Rank : https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/pagerank-status/hbdkkfheckcdppiaiabobmennhijkknn
This extension will show you the page rank of the specific Page. This is possibly the only extension I found that will display the pages pagerank in the extension bar rather than the domain page rank.
No Follow Simple : https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/nofollow-simple/apkcjkicpemmmakhhpbglcdlgphcjpae
Great little extension for finding out which links are passing link juice and which are not.

Dealing with Google+ Notification Overload
Too many notifications
If you are swamped with too many notifications from Google+ for new posts, you reduce them to only see the notifications you want. Notifications for non-community and community posts are handled slightly differently, as follows:
-- Non-community notifications are controlled in the view for each circle. Select the button at the top of your Home stream for the circle you want and click the bell icon in the upper right hand corner of the In this circle card if it does not already show as Off. You must repeat this for each circle you want to turn notifications off for.
-- Community notifications are controlled in the view for each community. Go to the community you want and click the bell icon between the community name and its avatar if it does not already show as Notifications off. You must repeat this for each community you want to turn notifications off for.
The emails associated with notifications are also handled differently for community and non-community notifications:
-- Non-community notification emails are controlled in Google+ Settings. Select Settings at the bottom of the drop-down main menu on the left, scroll down to Email: in the Notification delivery section to set the email account you want notifications sent to, then add or remove checks under Email in the Receive notifications section to select the types of notifications you want emails for.
-- Community notification emails are automatic if you receive notifications. Your choices are to disable notifications altogether or receive both notifications and the notification email. You can, however, create Gmail filters to automatically mark the community notification emails as Trash so they will not appear in your Inbox. If you would like an option to receive the notifications without the emails, I encourage you to use "Send feedback" (at the bottom of the drop-down main menu) to submit a request for that option directly to the Google+ team...
Guess what's in the making here?

With the "Hover Zoom" Chrome extension you can:
Enlarge photos without clicking them open!
Works almost anywhere in the web. Twitter, Google+, Facebook...
Especially nice when trying to read text on images or cartoons.

In this directory you can see the verified profiles from Google+ at CircleCount.com and find profiles you can trust by the name!..
Do you miss a Communities Stream in your Google+?
Following these steps, you can turn your Home stream into your Communities stream:
► 1. Go to each of your circle streams,
1.1. and disable "show posts in home stream"
► 2. Go to each of the communities you've joined,
2.1. and enable "show posts in home stream"
2.2. and (optionally) set "Amount" to "More"
► 3. Wait some 24 hours to have pure community posts in your Home stream
3.1. You can still use your individual Circles streams to read posts from people in your circles!
If you don't find this solution interesting because you need your Home stream as it is,
Wait until June 28th and the new version of which will add the ability to browse:
► Circle(s) Stream, either as a "what's hot" or timeline :-)
► Individual(s) Stream, either as a "what's hot" or timeline :-)
► Communities Stream, either as a "what's hot" or timeline :-)
► Incoming Stream, either as a "what's hot" or timeline :-)

A feather duster worm emerges from its tube in this ultra-macro sequence. The timing is adjusted for the animation: the actual sequence took a minute. I speeded up the beginning and the end, leaving the middle at about actual speed.

Bing, or if you are desperate, Yahoo.
Do all your dirty searches at a friend's house.
Use encyclopedias instead of the Internet.
Just accept the fact that using the Internet means giving up your privacy.

The Community, The Brand, and Me
The 3 Cornerstones of a Google+ Business Strategy
Pioneering a small business with today's emerging technology and social environment seems akin to tip-toeing through a minefield while balancing an elephant on your shoulders. Establishing a firm foundation can help you navigate the information flow and balance your activity, all while achieving growth and seeing results..
By simultaneously using Communities, Pages and a Personal profile on Google+, one can seamlessly integrate these three cornerstones into the growth strategy of their business. This is the foundation from which a brand can grow forward with the technology and information we have today. When used in unison, they can create a customer experience that gives them something great to share about, and a reason to come back for more.
The Community is the heartbeat of a business. This is your customer base. Communities thrive around relationships, activities and growth. The members build relationships with each other first, and slowly get to know the brand and the people behind the brand, through interactions on various events and posts. The point at which a member becomes a customer is that magical moment when mutual trust is established. I spend a lot of time giving the Community something to do, deepening their involvement with each other and with my brand. I recommend creating an active environment using weekly hangouts, special events, contests and workshops. Rewarding customer engagement and use of your products is a great way to spark interaction, build rapport and show appreciation.
Google+ Pages gives a business a platform from which to post about featured products or services, sales, and events much like any other online business page would. *Branding and product awareness are created here.* By posting about and linking to specific products and services on your website from Google+ Pages, you will see your SEO results increase and your website analytics will most likely show better results as your website traffic also increases. You can engage with customers and clients from a Page, answer questions and offer solutions, and thus become more familiar and comfortable with each other. The next time a follower searches for a product or service that you offer, and they see your logo and posts appear in the search results, they will already have an established comfort level with your brand that will most likely play into their buying decision. The Business page could stand alone, but it would be missing the 360 degree customer awareness and trust that comes from using all three of these foundation pillars.
A Personal Profile is about a person. A real person with a family, a dog, and stories to tell. Post here about interesting aspects of your life, your adventures, and your hobbies. It’s from your Personal Profile that you build your relationships and make connections. It’s where you build mutual trust. By posting about your specific areas of expertise, you will establish authority and credibility. It’s not all about customers and networking with peer groups. Your Personal Profile is where you’ll connect with friends and family, follow your favorite team, or even...if you must, join in on #Caturday . By posting to specific Circles, you can share the appropriate post to the appropriate audience and manage your personal information and privacy to your preferences.
By simultaneously nurturing each of these three cornerstones, you will enhance your overall Google+ experience, and that of your customers. Open communication and the established relationships do create a refreshing two-way flow of information. Your customers are becoming more comfortable with you and you with them. You’ll learn their needs and preferences, yes. More importantly, how to best serve them, and how to win and keep their business.
